To take advantage of this new service and collect medication directly from a convenient pharmacy, you must nominate a pharmacy.
You can ask the pharmacy to record your nomination or tell us. You can only nominate one pharmacy though this can be changed at any time.
Please note: a few medications, such as controlled drugs, cannot be sent electronically. If you are asking for a number of medicines and one or more cannot be sent electronically, you or your pharmacy will need to collect a paper script from us for all items.
You can order prescriptions using our online services - to do so, you will need to register with us for online services first. When ordering medication in this way, please check your request status online before attending to collect, as requests are sometimes rejected
Please allow at least two working days for your prescription request to be processed plus additional time if it is to be dispensed by a pharmacy
All repeat prescriptions are reviewed regularly by the doctor. You may be asked to see your doctor or have tests done before your prescription can be issued.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
